Investigators Looking Into Fatal Crash on I-75 12/11/22

An active police investigation is ongoing for a car accident that tragically took a man’s life early Sunday.

Around 3 am Sunday, it was reported that Marietta resident James Appleton, 52, was involved in a car crash after losing control of his 2016 Dodge Challenger and crashing into a median wall off of Delk road.

He was immediately rushed to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Investigators are unaware of what led up to Appleton’s fatal car crash.

Officer Chuck McPhilamy of the Marietta Police Department issued the following statement in regards to fatal accident 

“The Marietta Police Department’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is currently investigating a fatality collision that occurred on December 11, 2022, at approximately 2:51 AM on Interstate 75, Southbound, at the exit ramp to Delk Road.”

“The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact Investigator B. Gunkle at 770-794-5357.”
