A wild high-speed chase in Buckhead resulted in a flaming car crash Friday morning after the driver ran into a light pole, losing control of the vehicle.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, the two fleeing suspects in a black Chrysler 200 were taken to Grady memorial hospital soon after officers removed them from the fiery vehicle to safety. Their conditions were reported by firefighters as severe.
The high-speed pursuit started after Georgia State Troopers clocked the Chrysler 200 speed at 120 mph on G.A. 400 off Lenox road. According to the Georgia State Patrol, the patrol officers immediately flashed their lights and got behind the vehicle as they tried to escape.
The chase proceeded as the driver continued south on the Buford Spring Connector, attempting to get on I-85 south. However, they lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a light pole and a tree causing the car to catch on fire. The Georgia State Patrol also reported that the car crash caused the driver to have a broken leg.
