A tragic accident on Interstate 75 southbound in Bartow County has left at least four people dead and five others injured. The crash occurred around 6 p.m. near mile marker 286 when a Kia van traveling northbound veered off the road, crossed the median, and entered the southbound lanes.
The van collided with a Chevy Tahoe and a Toyota 4Runner, which was then struck by a commercial truck. A Hyundai SUV subsequently hit the back of the Tahoe. Bartow County Coroner Joel Guyton confirmed that three adults and a 15-year-old died at the scene. Their identities have not been released.
Emergency responders airlifted the Tahoe driver, while paramedics transported two children from the van and an adult and child from the Hyundai SUV to the hospital. The conditions of the injured have not been disclosed. The investigation by Georgia State Patrol is ongoing.
