Girl Dies in Columbus Car Accident

A seven year old child passed away following a vehicle accident in Columbus, Georgia Tuesday June 2, 2020. The accident happened on Macon Road near the intersection of Forrest Road. She was pronounced dead at 8:35 p.m., said Muscogee County Deputy Coroner Charles Newton.

According to the Muscogee County coroner, Mariah Lewis, now deceased, was not properly fastened in the car at the time of the crash.

“She was ejected from the vehicle after the driver had already hit one vehicle and sideswiped another one,” said Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan. “My understanding is the car rolled over and she was ejected.”

At least three vehicles were damaged in the crash,  a black car seen in the middle of the intersection of Macon and Forest Roads, a red car flipped on its side and the vehicle Mariah and her family were occupying.
